Long Island Soccer Club Announces Meghan Frey's Transition to Girls Academy Sporting Director

Uniondale, NY – February 14, 2025 – Long Island Soccer Club (LISC) is proud to announce that Meghan Frey is transitioning to a full-time position with the Girls Academy (GA), where she will serve as Sporting Director.  The GA, a leading youth development platform for top female soccer players in the U.S., recently partnered with MLS NEXT to enhance player development and create aligned pathways for boys and girls.

Meghan has been an invaluable member of Long Island SC over the past six and half years, contributing significantly to the club’s growth and success. Her journey began with Globall Concepts in 2003, a sports and events company which operates LISC, after she finished her professional playing career with Bristol City in the United Kingdom.

“Meghan has been a cornerstone of our success at Globall Concepts. Her innovative approach and unwavering commitment have driven our growth and set us on a path to excellence,” said Peter Zaratin, Globall Concepts President. “We have no doubt she will continue to make a significant impact in the world of soccer, inspiring and developing the next generation of talented female athletes.”

Her dedication and passion for soccer have been evident throughout her tenure with Globall, playing a pivotal role in expanding the company’s reach, developing innovative training programs, and fostering a culture of excellence. Her strategic vision and leadership significantly contributed to Long Island SC’s acceptance into the former Girls Development Academy, operated by U.S. Soccer, in 2018 — showcasing Meghan’s exceptional contributions.

Meghan briefly stepped away from Globall to pursue youth coaching but returned in 2018 as part of the Long Island Soccer Club’s groundbreaking Female First Program initiative. Launched in 2017, this program was one of the first of its kind among youth soccer clubs, dedicated to empowering and supporting female coaches, as well as leaders.  Appointed by LISC board members Gary Book and Peter Zaratin, Meghan was the first hire under this initiative. Her return marked a significant milestone in promoting gender equality and providing unprecedented opportunities for women in soccer.

“Meghan’s impact on Long Island SC has been nothing short of transformative. Her dedication, vision, and leadership have set new standards for excellence within our club,” said Gary Book, Long Island SC Technical Director. “We are incredibly proud of her achievements and excited to see her continue to inspire and lead in her new role with the Girls Academy.”

During her recent time with LISC, Meghan also served as the President of the Girls Academy, a volunteer position where she showcased exceptional leadership and commitment.

“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities that Gary and Peter have provided me,” said Meghan Frey. “Serving as the President of the Girls Academy has been an invaluable experience, allowing me to significantly enhance my business acumen. This growth would not have been possible without the support and understanding from Long Island SC – a true reflection to the board’s visionary Female First Program. I am excited to embark on this new journey and look forward to contributing to the development and success of young female athletes in my new role.”

Meghan will be relocating to Charlotte, North Carolina and there is no doubt she will continue to inspire and lead with the same passion and dedication that she has shown throughout her time with Long Island SC.

Please join Long Island SC in congratulating Meghan Frey on her new position and wishing her all the best in her future endeavors.
