LISC Girls Academy Teams Set to Shine in Season Opener

Long Island Soccer Club’s U-13 and U-14 Academy teams kick off this weekend, September 7th, at Hofstra University for the much-anticipated home opener of the Girls Academy league.

As part of the prestigious Girls Academy league, renowned for nurturing the country’s best young female talent, LISC proudly represents the high standards and player-focused vision of the league.  “The Girls Academy offers an unparalleled platform for the development of female youth players,” states Girls Academy Director Meghan Frey. “The GA platform facilitates the growth of athletes both on and off the field all while competing at the highest levels. Head Coach Matt Lannon and the players have done a tremendous job preparing for the season and we’re excited to step on the field this weekend.”

Under Head Coach Matt Lannon, competitive excellence will be the focus. “This season, our strategic emphasis is on quick decision-making and tactical acuity,” Lannon shared, highlighting the rigorous development the teams have undergone. The Girls 2011 team enters this season ready to leverage last year’s intensive prep for peak performance. Meanwhile, the Girls 2012 squad, enriched by past experiences, aims to display their strategic growth and improved play understanding.

In line with LISC’s holistic approach to soccer education, which integrates technical, mental, and physical development, Lannon strives for a play style characterized by possession, pace, and strategic movement. “We aim not just to participate but to compete at the highest levels, embodying the spirit and standards of the Girls Academy” Lannon states confidently.

With a comprehensive schedule that involves multiple high-level games in the Northeast Conference, LISC Girls Academy teams are ready to rise to the occasion and demonstrate their prowess.

Join us on September 7th at Hofstra University to support the future stars of women’s soccer as they embark on a promising season.
